Custom Generated Legal Documents: How It Works
The Problem We Solve
Most people and small businesses in Ireland do not have a solicitor on retainer. When they need a legal document - a tenancy agreement, a freelancer contract, a privacy policy - they face a choice between paying EUR 300-1,500 for a solicitor, downloading a generic template that may not comply with Irish law, or going without a document entirely. None of these options are ideal. We built IrishLegalDocs.ie to provide a fourth option.
How Our Document Engine Works
Our process has three layers. First, solicitors design and review document templates built specifically for Irish legislation - the Residential Tenancies Act, the Companies Act 2014, GDPR, the Terms of Employment Acts, and so on. Second, when you complete our questionnaire, your answers are fed into a generation engine that produces a tailored document using those templates. Third, the output is formatted into a professional PDF with numbered clauses, signature blocks, and appendices.
Solicitor-Reviewed Templates
The key distinction is that the system does not "invent" legal clauses. It selects, combines, and tailors clauses from our solicitor-reviewed template library based on your specific answers. If you tell us your property is in a new-build apartment, the system includes the correct CPI-only rent increase clause. If your freelancer contract needs an IP assignment clause, the system includes the appropriate wording. The templates are the legal intelligence; the technology is the personalisation engine.
What Our System Does Well (and What It Does Not)
Our system is excellent at assembling documents from structured templates, applying conditional logic (if X, include clause Y), formatting consistently, and processing at speed. What it cannot do is provide legal advice for complex or contested situations. We are transparent about this. For high-value transactions, disputes, or situations with unusual complexity, we always recommend consulting a solicitor - and we make it easy through our sister site SolicitorCompare.ie.
The Bottom Line
Our approach is not technology replacing solicitors. It is technology making professional legal documents accessible to the 90% of situations that do not need a bespoke solicitor engagement. A tenancy agreement for a standard rental. A freelancer contract for a design project. A privacy policy for a small business website. These are documents with well-established legal requirements that can be reliably generated from structured inputs. That is what we do, and we do it for a fraction of the traditional cost.
